New 2015 bikes are on their way soon, the Spez dealers are giving between 20-30 percent off on 2014 bikes. I am gonna buy me a Stumpy Fsr Carbon expert within the next week or two.

I jUst completed the REcm 200 on my 2014 Camber comp carbon. I love the bike. It destoys my old trek Superfly in every dept. I have a dropper on her and i blast through technical descents . It climbs so well i was going up very hectic steep muddy technical climbs while all the tallboys and hardtails were pushing. For someone like me (mid 40's ) middle of the pack who loves technical riding and long days in the saddle its a bike that makes so much sense. I ride for 6 hrs without any discomfort.

The Camber is an absolute legend and for under R40k for a carbon DS it has no rival.

Thanks guys. Must admit I like the fact that the Rocky is more niche and like the look and feel overall, but the arguments for Camber makes sense - including the extra travel which will probably help a noob like me and make it more fun.

Hmmm...hope Cape Town's weather clears up so that I can take one for a test spin this weekend.

I'll second that - also own a 2014 Camber Comp Carbon.

So my LBS is sorting me out with a custom build Camber. Wanted the Expert, but they only have Carbon Comps.

Here is the official spec comparison -

http://www.specializ...rFSRCompCarbon/

So far they have suggested the following changes to the Carbon Comp -

  1. Formula C1 brakes replaced with Shimano XT brakes and rotors

  2. Wheels changed from “Roval 29, alloy disc, 26mm wide, 32h” to “Roval Control Carbon 29, carbon disc, hookless bead, 22mm internal width, 32h”

Any "must have" changes that you would suggest whilst I'm at it?

Thanks!

What size frame do you take. I know of 2 shops that have medium Camber experts on the floor.

Large. I can get one, but would like to support my LBS if within reason.

I understand and completely agree. The expert is a much nicer colour imho, the dropper posts, xo groupset and carbon cranks and wheels are well worth the 20k price premium over the comp carbon. Those wheels alone are 15k. Good luck with whatever you chose.

Thanks. I'm now in that void of indecision and need some definitive advice. :)

So to confirm, I've been quoted on a Comp Carbon, with wheels upgraded to Roval Carbon and brakes upgraded to XT...all for an additional R14k.

1) The wheels worth it?

2) Anything else I should upgrade whilst I'm doing it?

Thanks!

Wheels are the most significant upgrade on a bike. Carbon wheels are on another planet, trust me. You will love them. After having the bike for a while, save up for a carbon crank and you are sorted. Miles of smiles.
