BigD Posted May 27, 2014 Share So new groupset time, currently powered along the trails by the 2 x 10 XT groupset but loving the 1x look and minimalists that comes with it. Current predicament: 1 x 10 conversion (11-36T cassette with 32T narrow width chain ring upfront) or 1 x 10 conversion (11-42T cassette, removing the 17T making space for the 42T adapter with a 34T narrow width chain ring up front) Option 1 - Cheaper but loses both bottom and top gearOption 2 - More expensive but maintains both bottom and top gear ratios on a 1 x 10 Thoughts comments... go! If you go option 2 try see if you can get a 16t sprocket and remove both the 15 and 17, it will give you a more even spread. You won't have as big of a jump. LuckyLuke Posted May 27, 2014 Share Option 2 is very temting, oneup components ship a 16 tooth with your 40 or 42. Is the jump between 15 and 19 noticeably big if you dont install a 16?

Bike Mob Posted May 27, 2014 Share Option 2.5 34t front. 42t rear. Remove the 15 for flatter events where you need the 11. And the 11t for a smooth ratio in your back yard

LuckyLuke Posted May 28, 2014 Share What about the xtr 9000 11 speed shifter and derailer and the sram x1 10-42 cassette, looks like shimanos gonna be cheaper than sram 11 speed parts. With a wolftooth on the front.
