Also in the market for a dual suss. I have done quite a bit of asking around and is it true that the Giant Trance will be a better bike for longer stage races opposed to the Giant Anthem?

My hard tail is a Scott Scale 960. After riding the Advanced Anthem for my first race I can tell you I felt fine after the race. The bike is super comfortable.

 

I reckon it would be the perfect ride for a marathon.

The Trance has longer suspension travel and is a bit heavier (although you can reduce this with lighter components). So the Trance is better on downhill and technical stuff and has a plusher ride generally than an Anthem. You make your choice!

Well I did the half marathon at Hakahana yesterday.

 

Second time in the saddle with this bike.

 

Oh hell yes this bike is the business. That 2x10 gear set is brilliant. I honestly thought coming from 3x10 to 2x10 was going to be a big problem but it is a big advantage.

 

A serious big thank you to everyone that recommended I go with the Giant in the beginning of this thread.

Ordered me an Anthem 27.5 1 today. My first brand new bike purchase, I'm so friggin excited. Should get it this weekend.

 

BTW, I've asked my LBS not to build the bike for me, I want to build it by myself... how difficult will it be? I have most of the tools, I'm just a bit worried cos I don't have a Torque wrench.

That 27.5 Anthem is also a very good looking bike.
