We're doing our first Seweweekspoort this year. Can anyone tell me - where's the best place to stay before and after the race?

Something to note, start & finish is not at the same venue.

Milky, you can always take the ride back to the starting venue as a warm-down excersise :whistling:

Thanks milky. I didn't see that. I am going to have to find a driver to take the car to the end, or my poor husband is going to have to do 80 + 25km!

There was always a free bus service running back in forth from the finish back to Amalienstein. Not sure if they still do this.

Thanks, OscarS. I wrote to the organisers Dryland, and they have told me this:

Shuttle back to start every hour from Finish area.

So that's sorted. Not I just have to get accommodation. Thanks for the info, those who have posted!

Seweweekspoort is on par with the 50miler in terms of difficulty, so if you are fit definitely an option (saw a few people doing it last time I was there)

The shuttle a bit of a chaotic mess, only 1 every hour and a lot of people trying to get on so you might miss your chance and have to sit around for another hour.

see skubara post regarding shuttle I've witnessed first hand how chaotic this can be at other events where the organisers only supply one shuttle every hour hence I never even considered this as an option as I'm way too impatient will rather take a longer route than sit in bumper to bumper traffic to give you an idea.

Back to accommodation, this is a fair way out & I'm sure within Ladismith there will be other options as well but worth considering www.warmwaterbergspa.co.za

Shhht!, haven't book my spot yet

Warmwaterberg is a nice option, only con is that it is a long drive to Amalienstein the morning of the race. But the whole resort is filled with people doing the race so it's a nice vibe for the weekend.
