On my side I had you and Annarij having a tussle. Dave passed me halfway and ended 250m ahead. At one stage your data stopped coming and it appeared you had dropped back to pace Dips back. You were behind him at that stage and 3k back from me. I new that was a ruse and kept on going and voila you came back through the convoy. The great thing is that one has to keep the pedal down no matter what you see.

my lung is still on the floor

Ok just some feedback before I re-calc the points standings....

Is it normal to use in excess of 400mb of data for a race without video? I measured my data usage last night. Before I started the race I stood on 780mb left on my contract...clicked on start race and countdown timer started...30 odd minutes before the race. Now here is the part I am confused about. It continued to eat data even though we havent started the race. I took a reading again about 1 minute before the start time and expected to see in the region of 780mb again. However I was sitting on 620mb....How did it eat 150mb worth of data? Is it better to rather start the race late then?

By the end of the race I was sitting on 360mb left...that would mean a total consumption of 420mb for the race. Is this normal? I was expecting more along the line of 100mb per race.

i will look into this one for you on tonights race.

is this not because of more riders much more data????i am clueless about this but thats all that changed, also you do "warm up" 40 min before rides ive seen you

Ta thanks Dave...I also made sure to not stream video, my video tab was black ie....not streaming video at all and in general settings in the race I also disabled the streaming functionality. So the data consumption was defnitely not related to video downloading or streaming

I might not make tonight's race. Travelling from Durban back to Bloemfontein today. If I get back in time I will be at the back again, to keep you guys honest.

Could be dips and would make sense...more data to download. But 420 mb worth....yoh that is quite a bit considering the data its downloading is probably in kb's rather mb. Could be google earth but again 420mb worth is a bit high.

Also the part that bowled me was the data consumption before the race actually started...you know in the countdown timer....since it should be neither downloading google data or metrics from other racers.

yip i do the same, it may relate to the number of riders???

i usually do a warm up on free ride then around 5min before the start go into online racing.

but 400MB+ sounds rather hectic.

Remind me again where to turn of the video please. Mine was streaming yesterday although a bit jerky (no problem crossing the roads though, excellent marshalls !!) but I didn't want to risk the "cross" button top right of iPad on the video screen in case it stopped the entire race

Ok so when you start the race there is a video toggle button. You can set it to either streaming or download....toggle it to download. Then when the race starts, click on the little gear icon top right hand corner. There is also a streaming toggle there....toggle it to off. And it wont stream video.

when you use google earth, are you using it in it Hybrid, Satellite, Terrain or Normal?

I use normal....thinking that it will use the least amount with it now downloading sattelite imagery.

Did my first little session last night. Intervals. So focused and detailed! Always good to know immediately you've made the right credit card decision.

I'll join a race soon enough.

Nice skipperw. I actually love the interval interface....something about those little lines moving up and down real time that motivates me. Its also a breeze to create workouts...heck I have even linked my resistance(the powerbeam is an ergo trainer remember) to a sufferfest video and created a workout so when the video is saying 8 out 10....my ergo trainer kicks in automatically and puts the resistance to 80% of my mean max power which you can calculate from your ftp or do a test for on the same device.

Loving life...winter se gat.
