The weekend after the hot weather the 2-day started in single digit weather........nice and chilly.

Long and short......come prepared for anything and everything.

The trails are so good u don't care about the whether.

My partner suggested I should stop at the bottom of Spionkop (I was broken after the heat on day 1). I refused, would have crawled up there just to ride one of the longest and most awesome piecies of singletrack back to the camp.

We even stopped at a village and filled out bottles from their jojo tank.

I remember that. It was day 2 just before spionkop. Guzzled down litres of water from the poor villager only to turn around the corner and the red bull water point was there with loads of drinks before the major climb.

Any power in the race village? Or suggestions for charging GPS units and cell phones?

There is charging facilities. Take your own charger. You may want to check this out as well:

I got myself one at Sani this year, works a charm.

Would be cool if they support Berg & Bush like they supported joberg2c and the sani2c race. I was on the Trail and it was very disappointing that they were nowhere to be found. That little device does make life easier.

Any talk of Berg & Bush going the "self-navigated" route like joberg2c and sani?

So, a bit more than a month to go before my first Berg & Bush. Other than a quick knee op for my partner, preparation is still going well.

Who else is riding? How many have you done?

I'll be doing my first Berg & Bush, which will also be my first stage race. Quite nervous and excited, all in one!

Training has not gone as well as I hoped due to time constraints, just hope I'll be fit enough not to suffer from the get go.

Not close to enough! Found it difficult to find other people willing to ride on the days when the weather wasn't great and my OH won't let me cycle along (I can't disagree as his points are all valid). Day 1 is going to be long and tough.....

I see day 1 is 10km longer than it was. Helps if you have no frame of reference. Lol

The newsletter said 7km's longer, not 10!!! The section we are missing is quite a steep descent so hopefully some of those 7 km's are just nice flowing slightly downhill single track that we can cruise on. (wishful thinking I know).
