Soutie, most grateful you have returned and I am certain you will experience exceptional service levels going forward as well as enjoy using the Samsung tablets on the bikes - give as few days to hook these up. I have a few big plans in the works, not cheap, but worth it if they come together in terms of continuing to add updated science to the training to the benefit of your performance gains.

Both Michael and Jean are very knowledgeable and capable, so you should get answers to just about anything you ask. You are also welcome to drop questions to my mailbox, info@cadencecycling.co.za

Rob, I plan to drive up and visit the branch once a month to coach sessions and see everyone again. It was a great learning experience this past 5 weeks being there and it was good to see so many people coming in to do extra low-moderate intensity sessions in between their 2 HIT sessions.

Anthony, considering your initial test result was decent, your gain is exceptional, well done. Keep adding in the extra low-moderate intensity hours - those are key to your further improvement. You can't expect 20% every 10-weeks or you could give up your day job and we would be watching you at next year's TDF.

They are replacing the existing bike computers with Samsung tablets. Nice big screens with rider login. Up & running in Hillcrest, much better as your personalized training zones are loaded when you login.

so ive done my fitness test and had the first two sessions.. Tuesday was balls (boobs) to the wall, eyeballs bleeding and I could hardly get thru the day (lower tempo upper max intervals). today was better but still quite hard. At this rate I hope to soon hurt some boys. Two questions1. what are others experience ito gains (power/speed)?2. what training do you do to supplement, especially over weekends, just the normal long rides or do you stick to certain zones? the guy at the studio said to spend as much time as possible in lower tempo?

What time in the morning does the training start? I need to lift my game.

Classes at 5, 6 and i think 7 in the morning, not sure about the evenings

Thanks Hannes

I emailed and was at a class this morning to see what the setup is like. I liked the whole approach and will start next week Monday. I will give feedback on the whole process every now and again,

Tania rocks :-)

I've been at Cadence CPT for a while - can't fault them for effort.

I found in the 1st year that you make good progress and your numbers rise steadily - +_ 6% every few months. This resulted in me setting PB's in the 3 events I ride - Argus, Amashova and Tour Durban. It slows down after that and I have stagnated for a while due to stupid Banting for 4 months and illness.

Mark stresses that 80% of your riding should be at Tempo/Zone 2. This is very difficult to do if you ride in groups as cyclists tend to ride hard up hill and then stop pedaling down hill. However you have to have fun sometimes!!

Well, the wheels seem to have come off at Cadence Bryanston/Fourways. Was told last week that it would be closed from 23 to 26 September (this weekend) for "routine maintenance". Then got an email this morning telling me that there has been a "merger" with Wattlab and that I need to join Wattlab. This was followed by an sms saying that Cadence Bryanston has "closed indefinitely".

Something very fishy here - can't get hold of Mark for an explanation as to what is going on.

Have made HUGE strides with Mark's training sessions, and am very reluctant to join anyone else.

Don't know all the background (because no-one will explain it to me, despite my efforts to get an explanation), but it seems like someone is pulling a fast one on Mark and Cadence.

You can always join CycleOps VIP (Virtual Indoor Power) Training in Rivonia, newer bikes (still CycleOps like you are used to) better software, more flexible class regimes and coffee for free! - cheaper too!

Seems like that's the only option at the moment ... won't join Wattlab after the rumors I have heard about PPC (who I think was the franchisee for Cadence Bryanston and who seem to be stealing Mark's Cadence customers by simply closing the branch and telling Cadence members to join Wattlab).

It's a great pity though - Cadence was more expensive, but Mark is worth it, and also had reciprocity with the Pretoria and the Durban branches (which I use when in Pretoria/Durban).

It is a pity about Mark no longer being involved in the Bryanston branch (as well as a couple others) but sometimes you have to make business decisions that will benefit the brand as a whole...

Still shocked at how this is panning out. will make my new training decisions soon
