  1. I do not agree. It is an account of his experience.
  2. I did not bother, my wife stitched it. Unfortunately I will now look elsewhere for kit.
  3. I bought some bibs less than a year ago. The seam at the back unstitched .....embarrassing!!
  4. Tubolito cost me a lot of time at the CTCT. Slow leak which I tried to bomb. Turned out the valve was leaking where it joined the main body. Only a few rides on it. This was a replacement cause the previous one exploded when i pumped it up out of the tire looking for a leak. Another one had a leak and the special patches did not work. Thrown 2 away and will toss the last remaining one.
  5. A tube messed up my Argus time. Had a slow leak which I bombed. Lost a lot of time. Mental note : ALWAYS change the tube upfront!!! Used those orange Tubolites and it leaked where the valve joined the main body. Mental note : throw them away!!!! Mental note: go tubeless with Orange Seal and crack 3:30 next time:)
  6. How do I see pictures in For Sale. When I click on them I get a plain grey screen?
  7. A delicate wash? Don't wash with other clothes? Who wrote this garbage? I chuck my Assos in the laundry basket and it appears on my bed all clean and raring to go. I have been using Assos for 12 years - it suits my muscular physique
  8. The Schwalbe Pro Ones seem to be the popular choice. Anyone tried the Conti 5000 TL?
  9. If you look closely they are only 2 abreast.
  10. I have had 4 punctures in the past month and was advised to go tubeless. On asking around I have had conflicting replies. The Cons are seating issues and mess everywhere when you puncture. The Pros are no stopping for punctures and better ride. I have not met anyone who actually rides tubeless!! Any thoughts?
  11. Event Name: Midmar Notts When: 26 February 2017 Where: Michaelhouse, Kwazulu-Natal Category: Road 80km route through the scenic Midlands Meander. Start and finish at Michaelhouse School. Lovely hot showers available after your ride!! Go to Event Page
  12. There is your problem. Chuck the liners away they also caused me problems!
  13. I tried everything - cleat position, new shoes, shims, physiotherapy and in desperation I went to a podiatrist. He said "collapsed metatarsal" and in 10 minutes had built up my sole. Hey presto - no more hot spots!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could have saved myself a lot of money if I had seen him first
  14. Bollocks. We wear them to stop the harsh sun burning our bald patches and necks - best thing ever invented!
  15. I think unethical is not honoring the first person who called dibs on your price. That is why this thread has started - because of lack of ethics. I also buy a lot of golf stuff on an American forum and in 10 years of buying, I have had no problems with my dibs's. I must say though, I have had no problems with my numerous dealings in The Hub
  16. You boys are getting confused. Banting is great for everyday living and training at low intensity. Some will lose weight on Banting, but I suspect it is only those who ate badly before and probably had too much sugar in their diet. Top teams and others do periodise and use their fat reserves on a Tempo ride by drinking water and eating nuts, etc. BUT on a high intensity ride - which most groups do, despite the best of intentions, carbs are needed fast and fat is inadequate.
  17. Well said MTBeer!! I thought this was a cycling forum where we all share our experiences and not a mumbo jumbo forum for pedantic "scientists". I do have records and stats and so do the others. We all have power meters and Self Loops can verify my loss of form but why do I have to try and prove myself - take our word for it - BANTING DOES NOT WORK FOR CYCLISTS!!
  18. I did say it was my personal experience!! However two other members of our group have tried Banting and experienced similar symptoms. Both of them have lost ground to the rest of us and have never regained their pre-Banting form. They also lost an incredibly small amount of weight. I am not sure how many anecdotes I need to be "scientific"? Perhaps I should start a blog and I too would then have credibility?
  19. I speak from personal experience. I was on Banting for 4 months. I lost weight initially but then my body went back to what it liked. I was very strict and had no bread and very very little rice, potatoes, etc. I went back to my dietician...result I was exactly the same weight and body fat as when I started!! My cycling? This went down the tubes very fast and like u, my HR went high and ran out of energy FAST at high intensity. It took me 4 weeks after stopping Banting to regain my strength and start riding well again. Conclusion - I felt fine on Banting for normal activities but it does NOT work for cyclists. One should lose weight by portion control on a normal diet rather than go on the dodgy Banting fad.
  20. Good luck in trying to find this particular blog - I couldnt!
  21. No standing? No bunny hops? Towing another vehicle!! Front and rear refectors!!! Load of pie-in-the-sky rubbish
  22. Hang on - I will go ask my grandfather.
  23. I must say the "Warning Points" next to one's name is rather disconcerting. Mine says 0 but why is it there in the first place? It evokes shades of negativity and creates the impression you will be penalised very soon.
  24. I found in the 1st year that you make good progress and your numbers rise steadily - +_ 6% every few months. This resulted in me setting PB's in the 3 events I ride - Argus, Amashova and Tour Durban. It slows down after that and I have stagnated for a while due to stupid Banting for 4 months and illness. Mark stresses that 80% of your riding should be at Tempo/Zone 2. This is very difficult to do if you ride in groups as cyclists tend to ride hard up hill and then stop pedaling down hill. However you have to have fun sometimes!!
