how does one find the route?

can we just pitch up at Marks park in the morning and ride it?

Check the site... its mapped on that and you can send it to your phone for GPS tracking. Its open track so yes you can rock up and ride.

The sections in the storm water drain are going to be interesting to say the least... the 1 foot dropoffs every 10 meters with slippery surfaces are going to test even the skilled riders, and the section to Innesfree Park isn't the most sanitary spot Ive ever witnessed. We sent a letter to the organizers with some constructive criticism and haven't heard back from them so I only hope for their sake that people take a LOT of care. Try riding that part of the course just to get a feel. It will help you immensly on the day.

One last thing, if you are in any group besides the real front runners, expect to be held up. There are scaffolding stairs in and out of the storm drains which you have to get off your bike to do, and hopefully they put grippy surfaces on these as mtb shoes dont grip to the metal surfaces to well (one of the guys wiped out quite badly and smashed his bike in the process).

From the organisers:

"No... Seeding and start times will be communicated a few days before and riders should arrive about 45/60 min before their start time "

From me:

Obviously 5000 riders, traffic etc. So plan ahead :)

I've read somewhere, I think Vleisbroek, that you would get 3000 Vitality points for finishing the 52km. How does the Vitality points work? How do I prove to Discovery that I finished?

3250... You log on to the outdoor activities ( not sure how to get there , always have to hunt for it) . They then check that against the event results to confirm.

log them here https://www.discovery.co.za/portal/individual/vitality-outdoor-fitness-selfcapture

Sounds like you already had your moneys worth and you had a clear route with no bottlenecks, you should be happy.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Any way I am looking forward to it.

Sorry y'all - was away for a few days training my "riding through donga puddles" skills (and beer drinking arm) out in the Wild Coast. Breaking in the new Scott Spark 960 :)

Have got all your important questions flagged and will make sure we get back to you!

Only 6 days till #HollardJUMA - hope you're excited!!

5000 riders? Haha, I think you may find just pitching up a little hard ;)

Hey JUMA. Have the entries for the 52km closed? I only get options to register for the 22km. System glitch, or do I have to do the "little assault"?

All sold out. VIP charity auction here: http://www.juma.co.za/enter-now/

Only 16 entries so far. 100 tickets available. At this rate, preferential seeding and a bunch of goodies are going for R900 a ticket, roughly double. Worth it considering it's for charity?

Do we have to fetch the racepack / numbers individually or can we send someone to collect for the group?

Someone can collect - just make sure they don't run away with your goodie bag :)

I phoned the cycle events bunch handling the entries and they said we can collect for other people. Mentioned that race numbers would be smsed through and we'd just need that to collect.

Would be cool if the JUMA guy's can please confirm?

Confirmed with organisers!

Got you an answer from the organisers, a channel of enquiry for you. Not really up to us unfortunately.

"You'll have to contact Eunice & Riaan from CycleEvents to try and arrange, however this is up to CycleEvents to allow - depending on the admin it creates".

You can contact Eunice / Riaan on: eunice@cycleevents.co.za or riaan@cycleevents.co.za
