Good luck to everybody riding the Carousel this year At least it seems as if you will have a dry race, however if the weather today is anything to go by, those open roads are gonna be windy

Really enjoyed my race today!!!

 

Started in b and had a great ride. Some lazy buggers who didn't wat to share the work, but rode well until my fat ass got dropped on the hill!! 40kms of time trialling after that until I got picked up by the vets who pulled me home at immense speeds! Finished in 3:10, 12 mins faster than last year! Super stoked. Glad we managed to avoid a crash despite a proper touch of wheels. Still have the tread marks on my shoes!

 

Wind wasn't terrible, rain stayed away, and relatively quiet roads were great. The Marshall who escorted us was incredible, thank you sir

 

Had a great ride!! If you didn't make it, you missed out!

I took part in this year's race. First event ever in fact. I'm just a casual cyclist, so I went in with no expectations, other than all the drama I read about here from previous races. I did the 70km (B open seeded) in 2:38 (Strava) on my Titan Cruz 29er, which I was super chuffed about. Average speed of around 27km/h.

 

It was a great experience. The wind wasn't too bad, the roads were good (just real bumpy in places) and there were no crashes around me.

 

Thanks to all the competitors and organizers. Had a great day.

Expected more riders in total but very few entered it seems.

Awesome marshaling, nicely organised and great day of racing.

Weather was good.

Lots of cross winds but weathered the tough winds.

 

Started in A, Shew, Pace was hectic.

Got dropped on the main climb to the turn around.

Picked up some fast guys on the way back.

4 of us from about the 70km till the end. Averaged close to 38-41kmh at times.

Thanks guys for sharing the load/pace & getting us through.

 

Finished on 3:03

Just missed my sub..

But Chuffed with 3:03 for a 110km race.

What bike/kit did you have. I also got dropped on the climb in A. Came back with a group of guys, but it got smaller towards the last 18km, with me and one other VC (started in A) chap. I was on a black S-Works with black & white kit. Finished in 3.01.

Hey there AryM , Blue Monster

I think I rode with you guys as well on the way back

after also being spat out from the A bunch on the short climb.

There were about 5 of us taking turns and keeping the pace.

It was good fun for my first Carousel ride.

Marshals were great, the weather was good,

 

Ill be doing the Sun City ride as well so

good luck guys and enjoy it.
