another cyclist bashing letter

Big Ben, Slowpoke and I had the same this morning, we had a very patient old gentleman in a bakkie, ride behind us and waited for us to turn before going past, we waved and thanked him and he smiled and waved back. I agree not all is bad, but the majority think we don't have a right to be there.

In another case while riding single file a golf came past me so close I almost fell over.

There were sections this morning where we were riding two abreast in the yellow lane and in places in the lane where there was no yellow line, but when a car came from behind we moved into single file. I don't see a problem with this. The problem I have is that from what I read in those letters, motorist think we have no right at all, that's nonsence!

The problem is that most cyclists refuse to move over when a car comes from the back, and that's when tempers start going and fingers start flying.

same thing goes for lane splitting - most drivers think that it's illegal and that they are doing the world a favour by blocking the "big bad bikers" from "breaking the law". int he meantime it IS legal and DoT (Dept of Transport) likes it cos it reduces congestion. BUT it must be done responsibly - tearing along at 100kmph between cars driving 60kmph is just plain stupid and irresponsible and if someone happens to open a door it's the rider's own tough sht (oops, did i just say that?)

on bicycles we are legally entitled to be on the road but cagers don't seem to realise this so they think they're doing the world a favour by "getting rid of these health nuts" - ok they also all seem to have repressed issues about the fact that they are big fat and lazy, but i'm not willing to die for the sake of their inadequacies.
