Thanks, will keep that in mind.

Edit: just realised I replied to a 1 yr old thread. as I gave blood two weeks ago. D'oh!

haha still as valid today as it was 20 years ago. Btw how is the iron levels? I suffered of this as a laaitie, doc told me to eat fish, raisins, meat, tomatoes, etc. and even now with serious cycling I've taken it as supplement in the form of a tablet.

I donated a couple weeks back... no problems. But that was a year between the last donation.

I think at the time when I was donating 5-6 times per year the iron levels were depleted. The sister at the local SANBS clinic gave me tablets (which helped with the iron but what came out the other end was like bricks).

The problem I have now (and back then) is the type of food I should to be eating - if I don't like the taste, I won't eat it, let alone buy it. Supplements are also not on my list of things I take (good or not? Don't really know).

"Gentle Iron" I can't get to the brand now but I picked it up from a herbal/wellness store in canal walk, Cape Town. Let's just say you will no longer past bricks.

I contacted the people at the blood bank and they assured me that all is ok. The 730 I saw was the weight of the pack on the scale, but they only take 480ml. I still wonder where the extra 250g comes in... blood isn't that much denser than water (+- 1.05x) and the plastic bag + pipes can't weigh that much?
