Joeboy69 Posted August 6, 2014 Share Hi, for long distance motor biking some guys use spotwalla. We can then track their progress on a route etc. Maybe it can work for you as well. https://spotwalla.com/

JanJan Posted August 6, 2014 Share I like to see some photos, even if it is just nameboards of the towns you ride through.Taking a few photos (NOT SELFIES) from your phone will be cool. Regarding the internet, Ill sponsor a R100 of airtime that you can convert to data. Just pm me your cell nr and network.
Alasdair Posted August 6, 2014 Share The Garmin 510 and 810 have a live tracking option including heart rate, speed, power etc, coupled with the Virb could be the most seamless option. Data bundles are cheaper to buy than paying out of bundle, most service providers have specials on for around R100 a month for 2GB.

Pulse Posted August 9, 2014 Share Thanx for the detailed reply. Now I get it... I'll need to think about this one a bit. I've done some long solo mtb treks through Madagascar and other places, but at that stage couldn't care about a 'following' (except for family/friends for safety). Hopefully I'll have some inspiration for you soon
Skylark Posted August 9, 2014 Share You need to be imaginative and clever with how you post updates and pics, make it interesting with the experiences and quirky things that you see/happen to you. At the end of the day a AtoB boring ride for you is not so boring to the weekend warrior stuck in the office/suburbs...
GreatGusto Posted August 9, 2014 Share You are correct. It does sound boring. You need to look at the various travel shows for ideas. They seem to be able to make a story out of a long drive/trip. Bottom line is that you are going to be the subject and the cameraman too, so I don't know how you are going to get that right. Maybe just take all the footage and then get somebody to turn it into a show of some sorts? They do this all the time.
