120 BCD Chainring Options

Hi guys, my SS was build using a SRAM 2x10 crank and I am currently still using the 39T chainring, and only removed the 26T(I think). At the back I have a 15t cog. My riding areas are fairly flat and it works well for training, but want to have a option for if I go riding somewhere else, where a 34 or a 36 could help me out a bit. But I have been looking, and it seems that most SS specific or other narrow wides are all 104BCD, where the SRAM is 120BCD. Where do I look for 120BCD chainring options, or what are the other options? thank you

If you have one of the removable spider Sram cranks like X9,XO or XX1 you can swop the spider out for a 104bcd spider or get a direct mount chainring.

You should be able to get a 36t in 120 bcd.

if you cannot come right.. why don't you have a custom set made.. a few of us have laser-cut chain-rings to great success

Unfortunately the smallest you can go with a 120bcd crank is 36t. A 104 bcd crank gives you more options and a wider variety to choose from, but to replace the crank is so damn expensive. If the area you ride in is not too hilly you should look out for a 36t 120 bcd chainring.

You could leave the 39 on and change rear cogs to a 20 or 22. They're cheaper than chainrings. Try rapide.co.za

Or disassemble an old cassette, and find the cog you need. Even cheaper.

I had the same issue, ended up chaning the 2 in from on my XX to a wolftooth 120bcd 36t ( thats the smallest one that will fit)

It's fine without changing the standard xx cassette and dont need a type 2 or clutch derailleur.

I have not dropped a chain yet.

 

They shipped to sa for free and customs is about 100 bucks.
