I am T1 Diabetic on an insulin pump.

My best results were achieved on a Low Carb, High Fat (LCHF) diet.

it takes your body a while to get used to the new fuel but I was able to ride for 3 hours at a moderate pace on only water.

You will be amazed with the improved BG control and reduction in insulin.

look at the LCHF thread:

Personally I suffered hypos whilst on 32GI.

Buy the following books and read them:

The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living - Phinney & Volek

The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance - Phinney & Volek

Then take a few days and read the LCHF thread - there is a wealth of knowledge.

I was just wandering if any of you are pre-diabetic or diabetic and if so

how do you fuel for endurance and still race competitively

According to Tim and Jeroen (I heard from a friend) You should not consider yourself diabetic while ON the bike, so eat what you wants as you are burning the fuel....But leave enough time to burn the last thing you ate before you stop...

NBNBNB I and ONLY repeating what I heard, I was not there so it is up to you to investigate this to see how true this is.

I am T2. Been taking glucophage for 2 years. If I eat before I ride and drink plenty water, I only need the odd enerjelly during a race. Carry an apple as it is low GI but has enough sugar to help
