Hi Hubbers,

Does anyone know of a legal, and safe route consisting of mostly dirtroads one can ride from Somerset West to Stellenbosch/Jonkers?

Also, no illegal riding please. Do not want to get chased by a farmer in his bakkie.

Thanx

You should also ask for 'safe' routes.

Yes, that too please! Thanx. We will be about 4 riders

The wannabees trails can get you there 80% of the way I think. There membership is dirt cheap as well. I am just not sure where you are supposed to keep all these bike boards you are supposed to display!!

Going to end up needing a flip file on the front of your bike!

Haha, Im not from Somerset West. Joining up with friends who live there, so membership is out of the question. Maybe we'll just ride on the R44 on the shoulder or as close to the dravel next to the tar Edited by clauderoux

You can get a day pass from the BP at the Lord Charles, then head off through the farms. Other than that there are no other public gravel roads.

and this is how a fight starts ... but why would you not pay membership to ride on trails maintained by a club ?

do you pay fees to ride at tokai ?

and I live here, but I think the tar road is your best option.

EDIT: would you also pay to get into Jonkershoek?

Hasn't there been security issues on the road Slowbee. Also I don't mind paying, but not annual fees for a 2 week stay.

You missing the point, he is not here all the time. It does not make sense paying the annual fee and then only use the trails for the time he is here.

Its only R150 for a membership after 1 July. Therefore if you ride 5 times in Dec thats only R30 buck a roo's a ride. But lets me honest, on holiday gonna be out on the bike at least 9/14 days so its even more of a deal.

Get it done!

Oh, after 3 rides at R45 bucks a pop I gave in and got a bike board. Have managed to ride enough to make it work out to R9 per ride, so not so bad.

Was rather nice having the day pass where most of the rides start....
