Haha it was just a suggestion :P + I think the 650b only goes up to Large as well. Brawler, you nearly bought one didn't you? ;)

Both the Enduro and Reign only go to a Large. I am 1.88m and my reign feels massive so I wouldn't worry about size.

I nearly bought the Enduro yeah, its a good bike but:

The Reign is bang up to date with a few years of 27.5 experience and testing at the highest level. The Enduro is ageing and I believe a new suspension is in the works.

Specialized has a poor attitude towards 650b. They don't even have a 650b frame but recycle 26" frame on Enduro and 29" frame on SJ.

The Reign is cheaper and comes with Dropper.

The Reign has 2x10 which I need at the moment :P

The Enduro is a bit lighter though at stock, I think it has much lighter wheels.

My SJ FSR used to break everytime I rode it so didn't mind changing brands.

If the Reign was going to take a while to get here I just would have gone with the Enduro.

Brawler, I am 182 - is the large reign going to be too big for me? I am really worried about it because the TT of the Medium Reign is the same length as my Large Trance.

I am going to have to run a 30mm stem to get the same reach.

Nope. Large is spot on. It's the new style of geometry. You're the same height as me and I'd definitely go for a large.

If you run a 40mm stem, or even a 35 - just run your saddle a little further forward to get the reach sorted.

If I may ask....what 29er you Pre-ordered and did you have prices on the 2015 bikes?

Ordered the 2015 Giant Anthem x 29er.

The prices were indicative as it is all subject to the R/$ exchange rate.

I was told that the reason Giant come in at such a good price is that they ship the bikes to Cape Town in separate components (ie. Frame/Fork & Wheels/Components) and assemble here. This is to save on tax which is more if you brought a complete bike in.

I dont think so. Check on the Giant sizing chart. Remember I am tall and coming from a medium bike so everything feels big.

I'm quite sure thats BS.

Sure if an individual buys a bike from CRC that applies but a distributor buying thousands of bikes in pieces to avoid tax? no ways. I have also seen complete Giant bikes is boxes coming from the distributor.

I compared sizing charts between the two bikes, and the Medium Reign is about the same as the Large Trance, and has a longer wheelbase. The Large Reign is about the same as the XL Trance.

Unless I am missing something:

Giving my bike a dust of this morning I noticed marks on the upper stanchions on both sides.

Looks like a corrosion or something under the black coating?

My phones camera isnt that great but you can see the marks on here, ignore the reflections.

It is very weird, its actually extremely easy to miss and can only be seen when you are very close and in the right light. If you move your finger over it briefly you wont feel it but eventually you can feel it if you are looking for it. It's also at the very upper of the stanchions so probably won't get much action but still, considering the price of a Pike I'm going to see what LBS has to say. Seeing as the bike is a week old and a factory fault whats the deal? New fork or repairs *shudder

Thanks.

Although surely the PSI should be dependent on my weight?

Anyway had another ride today, this time at gspot and I'm even more impressed. After many hits to the main line I didn't need to push up once, something I have never been able to do. So that pretty much for me confirms that this bike is a far better climber than my old bike.

On the first run down the shock was a bit springy and I was leaning a bit too far forward and nosediving. Adjusted the shock one click towards the 'tortoise' and on the next run was immediately at home on the bike and hit all of the big jumps with ease. Bike jumps super well. Best bike i've ridden. Stoked.

How is the giant dropper post behaving?
