Shoulder dislocated (Grade 3 AC seperation) - what now?

Grade IV to VI are managed surgically and unfortunately grade III is right on the cusp of operative vs. conservative management.

Risks of surgery and recovery vs. natural healing is the problem. And the data seems to be very inconclusive about which is better.

I'll try avoid surgery, and luckily my crossfit coach is a Physio. She will help plenty with the rehab.

I just told her she must make me stronger than the 60 year old lady that trains there.

Maybe change the heading to. Grade 3 AC shoulder separation....

And do some googling, you can heal without surgery but you will not be the same.

I visited a lot of forums and did a lot of googling on this subject as I have the same.

We'll I had a grade 2 and then fell on it again, dislocating my shoulder proper and doing more damage.

A year later and my shoulder does not feel happy when lifting my arm above shoulder height.

Also, go for more than one opinion

Eesh. Thanks guys.

I had a pretty uncomfortable night, as I usually can't sleep on my other shoulder either due to a previous injury.

I have a list of 3 orthodox to see for opinions now.

My big worry is my weight lifting and gymnastic movements are now going to go back to zero.

Crossfit competition at the end of October is also out.

Was Dr Breckon one of those names. If not put him at the top of your list. He is in Morningside clinic.  After 6 months of physios trying to think they knew what was wrong and about R50k later i went and saw him.

My shoulder still gets a bit sore when its cold but other than that its better than my not damaged shoulder.
