Replacing a Shimano SLX (maybe) cassette

I've got to replace my very worn cassette on my mtb. Currently it's a Shimano SLX 11-34 10 speed.

I'm seriously not bothered by weight, so is there anything wrong with going with their Deore version? Or are there good reasons for getting a more expensive cassette?

Secondly, some of them come in 11-36 size, is there much difference changing from 11-34? Will the slightly larger range be more useful, maybe if I'm replacing the chain rings in future and would have more options then?

Cheers

On my previous bike I went "down" to deore. The weight difference was something like 80g compared to the price difference of almost R200.

I suggest going with the 11-36, it'll make climbing somewhat easier

For me, always price against weight... you can loose the extra weight with a burp and a fart  The money saved can give you an extra event to enter. when I started doing stage races, the extra big gearing save my legs plenty on those long climbs, but if your a strong rider, not an issue, if you find yourself running out of gears, then I say make to change to 11-36

Deore cassettes are heavy but they're made of wear-proof unobtanium and if you keep an eye on chain wear they last forever.

As for size, if you're planning on going 1x then get the 36, otherwise stick with what you've got.

Go to CWC Greenpoint with their 25% off birthday sale, think its the last day today. Should be able to get an SLX with Deore money.

Thanks for the heads up on the special. Popped in there today and paid R330 for the Deore.
