MTB Shoes Carbon sole vs Hard Plastic Sole

With Roadies sitting and constantly spinning in a stable motion, I can understand they would feel the impact/value of a carbon sole.

 

With MTB up down, over rocks aka unstable... how BIG is the value of a carbon sole still?

Also, is a plastic sole noticeably more comfortable to walk in due to more flex?

It all depends on the shoe. I went from cheap plastic Specialized shoes to Carbon Gearne. I can feel a bit of a difference in power but not much (I'm not a race snake so I ride a 130mm DS trail bike). But the Gearne is a lot more comfortable and stable, both on the bike and off. Just remember that the price does not just effect the stiffness of the sole but also the quality of the shoe

I have top end carbon sole spez shoes and mavic nylon sole shoes .If I had to give away one pair it would be the spez carbon sole shoe
