Awesome. You guys are great.

If I can be a pain in the butt enough of a n00b, would any of you mind linking me to examples of the stuff listed above that I should buy - like the pump and spares and stuff?

I'm meeting up with the guy selling the momsen this evening. Stoked!

No worries. We all enjoy the stoke of participating in someone getting into the lifestyle of riding bikes.

Post pics of the bike when you get her. It is a hub tradition to take the photo with the bike on the couch...

Some very sound advice from Tube there.

Also couch pics! its an almost forgotten tradition that must live on.

Dont forget the other hub tradition of if selling a bike or parts, Boxes of smarties are a valid currency.

EDIT : and on fridays we hate each other and swing handbags at each other like menstrual teenagers.... #truestory

good rule of thumb is to double your budget...  one can never buy a too good bicycle!

good bikes = fun bikes, so whatever you want to do, just bite the bullet, double your budget and eat oats for a few months if you have to.  you WILL replace a R7k bike within 2 years once you have experienced the awesomeness of riding!

So true. My 1st bike was 7k, now a year later my wheelset alone is about 7k. Where does this end? Does it ever end? Enjoy your journey!!

So guys. I got that bike, and it's awesome. Rode around for 8 minute yesterday, and about 5 this morning, and my butt HURTS. Is this something I'll just have to get used to?

How was the setup done?  Get some cycling pants!

TITS also help.

+ 1000 Get cycling pants. Go commando when you wear them so the chamois can properly 'stroke your butt'...  (Ja, it's crazy but genuinely more comfy that way and how they're designed!)That and it will take a little while for the muscles around the sit bone area to get used to riding. An upgrade to a useful and more comfortable seat will eventually happen once you start doing longer rides... (How long is a piece of string comment from before....)
