DieVlieg Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I recently traveled to Southern KZN via the N3. While going down I noticed the service road next to Van Reenen's Pass. It looked pretty decent but not too decent and actually like a nice challenge to ride. On my return from holiday I actually tried to have a better look without stopping and still have a safe drive up and noticed that mostly the service road regularly have access openings without gates. It is mostly fenced on both sides so it is not private property. One bad thing is that at some point it crosses the N3 and the N3 is a hazardous road. Does anyone know more about this road. Do people cycle it, is it safe and and and I know there is the Sani Pass and there is lots of info on that but for now I am interested in Van Reenens. Is it even legal?

Did nr 9 - Ouberg Pass in the Trans Karoo race. Climbing 800m in 10km after about 200km in the legs is no joke, even the winner of the race walked big parts of it and its a district road not a mtb trail! By far the toughest climb I have done on a mtb
