I know its far but would be a very leka training ride every once in a while. 44km is far (like a 2 hour ride for me on a good day), how is your route in terms of climbs (flatter should be faster)? You can maybe make it a Friday afternoon ride home (if you can catch a lift to work). Alternative is to go to work with your car (carrying the bike), cycle home the afternoon (leaving the car at work) and back to work the next morning (hope you have shower facilities available). You can try out the route over a weekend to get a measure of how long it will take you to do it. I'm just under 20km from work and find it manageable (havent done more than 4 bike commutes in a week - thats just short of 80km). Being tired at work and sitting in front of a PC all day does not help (struggle to stay awake on some commuting days, especially after lunch).

I did a 55km commute when I worked at TUKS (did it a few times, from Bronkhorstspruit) The morning was nothing, the afternoon was hell. I had to stop that when they re did parts of the route, and also when they screwed up the N4
Sitting slip Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Commuting in pta is not fun. I feel safer in my car. I work till7pm so night times are scary as hell
