I dont think you will get more bang for buck than the Giant Anthem. I've had my 29er Anthem for 3 years now and have been really happy with it's all round capability.

Great event! I did the 62km. Only thing that I would have changed was putting a water point before that last monster climb and not after it.

Sorry for the hijack! Would be keen to find out what some of the longer commutes are? I am tempted to do n moese commute but my office is a very hilly 44km away.

I havent been on a Trance so cant comment there. I know in 2013 the Anthem was a finalist in Bike Radar trail bike of the year, which says allot about its trail capability. ( ) I received an brand new 2014 Anthem X1 as a prezzie from me to me at the beginning of last year. I havent looked back or doubted my decision to get one for one sec. The bike is phenomenal! Goes like a beast down tricky single track, climbs like goat when going up and runs like a train on the long stuff. Thats my 2 cents for you. Love my anthem!!
