GO and Rac, my only problem with these 2 are "designed in Italy, made in Taiwan".  So they aren't "pure bred" Italian stallions.

Valid point...

Pity really, I was chatting to Delgado and we were discussing the Taiwan conundrum...But I think it applies to every bike nowadays?! Except Cannondale?!

Remember...LOOK don't outsource any frames...They are made in LOOK's factory in Tunisie...and then shipped to France to get finished off. That's why their not that cheap. Production of frames in Taiwan cut costs.

Mr Look, my brother in-law still rides his 361 and I love the "look" of the thing. Old school thin tubes with lugs and no wishbone seat stays.

Do remember the days when the first made in Vietnam Nike kit arrived here... people had the same reactions... when the rest of the world had been getting their Nike stuff from Vietnam for like 10 years before us. What's the diffference?

How much would that De Rosa IDOL (yes, everyone knows that, I Mr Pinarello, have a huge crush on that IDOL) cost if it was hand made in Italy? Do you guys know how expensive manual labour is in Europe? The difference of making them in the east (not brakpan) is to make them more affordable.

If some weekend warriors perception of quality makes him turn his nose up at me, then so what.

Made in taiwan isn't even the issue. Wait a couple of years, and people will be saying "ya, but xyz frame is made in Taiwan, but pty frame is made in China.

So the 585 is not made in Taiwan?!?!

The 361 was an awesome frame!! If you ride a LOOK .... you won't ride another bike again. They get addictive. Remember the pinnacle of cycling technology is Track Cycling....and that's where LOOK excel. Same technology then gets used on the road. They are simply a step ahead.

Both the De Rosa or Colnago seem absolutely delicious, IMH(but highly biased)O.

Who cares about weight & cost when 1) you're dealing in passion, 2) you've already convinced the missus to shell the equivalent of more than 1 bond payment on a bike 3) you're buying exclusivity?

Says the one selling up his Italian bella...

Look here MrLOOK, I personally am in favour of having frames made in Taiwan/North Africa whatever. Just imagine how much the LOOK's would cost if they did the whole thing in France. Just that some people here a stuck up. Read my previous post.

Hey, my first pair of Pumas were "made in Zimbabwe". The pair after that was "made in southern Africa". Guess they did not like the stigma linked to that country but bet it still gets made there.

If Mr. Look can give you a 585 ultra frame for under R15k, go for it.

That Colnago CLX you posted looks sweet as well!! Im not concerned about where they were made, Asia of Africa, doen't matter, as long as they have a good warranty.

I also like the look of the Idol, but the ISP puts me off.
