XX1 wear and tear

Been very happy with my XX1 , but I am wondering those that have been riding it for a while how does one maintain it.

Do you change your chain every so often ( and how often) and once the back casette is worn do you change your front ring as well or do you change only what is worn. Obviously the casette last allot longer then your average casette.

I am still on all the original parts but was wondering if  I should put a new chain on yet?

that cassette and its mounting is a bit engineering trickery to get 11 sprockets into the space designed for 9...

just repalce the chain often, and keep the chain and a sprockets clean

Same as any other drivetrain I guess - rotate 3 chains on 1 set of chainrings and cassette. Use a chain checker tool and rotate chains every 1-2 month depending on how much you ride.

Like any drivetrain keep the chain as spotless as possible and change the chain when it reaches it's wear limit, 0,5% wear may be better in your case with a hyper expensive cassette or 0.75 if you are a chance taker but that would be the max I'd say.

I would imagine due to the chain width being narrower than 10speed there is more wear on the rollers, less surface area yet has to carry the same forces?

Actually an interesting point, as we move to ever thinner chains they wear consequently faster but cost more?

Since going 10speed I look with longing at 9speed chains and cassettes, so damn cheap, anyone for R150 chains and R250 cassettes?
