Hey what is going on with group riding in Gauteng!!

All races this season seem to sufffer from rich git syndrome where the more expensive the bike the less the rider cares, group riding seems to run to the following rules

1. Pull across everyone in the pack - never look back, never point, NEVER apologise

2. Wherever possible overlap wheels

3. No one owns your piece of the road - always try to squeeze out anyone who is close to you

4. Don't spin in a suitable gear - instead push hard - then freewheel - make everyone behind stress and compensate

5. When at pace in pack - hold bars near stem - never cover the hoods - then when you have to brake - grab for the hoods - change line - then break too hard - then do items 1, 2, 3 or 4 above as necessary.

Oh, and thought we'd decided as a community to keep the gel wrappers after use or dump at a waterpoint - instead of littering wherever we ride.

Or is it me ...??

Well, that is one way of introducing yourself to the Hub community!

I had a good race from DL.  On Hillsnacks I stuck with the DL frontrunners, but they were too strong for me up Robert Broom, so I kept going and catching others and a small bunch of 5 or 6 of us formed at Krugerdorp.  We started catching CLs and BLs out Tarlton flats way, and got joined by some DLs that caught us and eventually the group was huge coming into the Maropeng climb.  Kept rolling until we joined the Caves and joined the 50km riders who were taking up the road. The Cradle bumps not taken at great pace until Valverde,  and then it was head down for home.  3:12 this year versus 3:48 last year so a great improvement for me.  Took a ride afterwards to the Caves again to make 150km for the day.  Awesome day out after the Xterra Lite last w/e and no rides during the week.

Edit:  How disappointing was the water point at the finish????  ASG should hang their heads in shame.  This is no longer an A-grade race.

Must have been in the same bunches as you.

Also near the front of DL.

That bunch that formed going up to Maropeng was actually crazy, okes were even being forced over the white line into the oncoming traffic.

Put a bit of effort in there just to get outta that bunch.

Finished in 3:09

so I was riding on 40/50 bars which was not ideal, probably why I felt fatigued after the race.

If you managed to pump your tyres to 40 bar, i am not surprised you were fatigued.  :whistling:

I guess you mean 40 to 50 psi = around 2.7 to 3.3 bar
