29R CALYPSO SPORT good enough for a start

I need some advice on a starter bike for a lady.

She might end up doing the odd race(if she does get into it big time we will upgrade)

 

So far we have decided on the Titan calypso 29r sport.

Anything better in that price range(and if you say better, why)?

Titan's are generally quite good value propositions and quite durable, if you don't ride them too hard.

The Titan bikes are good...but they have no resale value. I would rather spend a bit extra and buy a good used bike on the hub. A lot of good guys on the hub selling some nice bikes.

If it was for me then secondhand it would be, but it's not for me and I do not want the responsibility of if something goes wrong with a secondhand bike

Go for it. Second hand is cool but picking up a brand new bike is cooler.....

I agree with Eugene, nothing wrong with a Titan.

I have one and its a great ride.

I think it's a great entry level bike, and doesn't cost a lot if you are wary about killing your bank balance on your first bike, and a sport you may not really get into.

 

but that's my 2c worth.
