  1. I actually dont know why I still advertise on the Bikehub. I am so sick of getting these absolutely crazy low offers from guys like bikemarket. Really wish it would become a place for private sellers only!! You also pay to place an advert and they come and place 10 adverts after your advert and you just get pushed down the list. Some of these re-sellers are rip-offs of note!
  2. Problem is...its a titan, whatever you buy it for today you will sell it at a huge loss tomorrow as their high end bikes have no resale value. And a 5 year warranty where most other brands have a lifetime warranty..too many of their older carbon frames have had issues in the past...sorry, but I will pass..
  3. Someone that tall and weighing 150kg should not ride a xc bike. He will do one or two rides and be put off cycling completely. I would say a minimum of 120mm travel on the fork, but would prefer 140mm so as to get the bars higher. Most trail bikes will be able to handle his weight, for training and casual riding. XC Bike will be very aggressive and will put a huge amount of strain on his hands, wrists. neck and lower back.
  4. Your biggest challenge will be suppliers, and a bike brand or two. Believe me, if you have one or more active shops in your area, you will not be supplied. Some bike shop owners will literally threaten suppliers to keep them from supplying you. Its also very difficult to get a bike brand, as they will not supply you if there is a dealer of that brand anywhere near your location. Small bicycle shops are closing at a very high rate and unless you have a few bar to spend, you will be wasting time and money. PM me and I will get in contact with you and give you more details as I have experienced this first hand.
  5. That part is causing lots of issues as its one of the causes for a creaking shimano rear hub. It also has to be installed correctly. Go on youtube and search for creaking shimano rear hub.
  6. Also having issues with ratings where I was contacted directly via cellphone, now I am unable to rate person as there is no visible messages between myself and buyer on the hub...
  7. I added my bike on to my King Price insurance, and I had to claim after having the bike insured for about a year. The claim was paid out and settled in 8 days. I am super happy with King Price bike insurance.
  8. Rudi, prepare yourself as Trek bearings are extremely expensive. Problem no1 is that you can only get Trek components from Trek dealers and no other bike shop. Many of Trek bearings are unique and although they carry the same code they sometimes differ as the inner race is wider than normal. I have paid up to R350 per bearing. Arch Cycles should be able to help you.
  9. If the tyres are that difficult to get on properly, i would run less tape and maybe a thinner tape. You will also struggle big time to get them off the rim if you need to fix a puncture or something.
  10. What rims do you have, and what rim tape are you using? Some rims like the Stans range you only use a thin layer of the yellow type rim tape. If you use anyting else you will have a problem.
  11. I have done a few carbon bicycle claims before, and i would not repair that. We have a few carbon repair guys in SA that do fantastic work but I think that specific area takes a lot of stress and pressure. I would only accept it if they agree to accept all medical liabilities, and I will insist that the frame must be sent back to the original manufacturer for stress testing after the repair. This must all be done at their cost.
  12. I think its rather sad that people feel this way..think about this for a second...Bigger cycle retailers get big discounts because they have buying power..yet instore they sell at the same price as the smaller retailers..Thus making far bigger margins than the small shops...what people also dont realise is what will happen when all your small shops do die...you will have one or two large retailers that will take over the market..just imagine those service levels when you are forced to buy from them..or forced to take your bike there for a service..
  13. I think around R45k...
  14. Great guy, legend joining a really great bunch of guys at Rush Sports..
  15. All the bikes you mentioned are great bikes, but having owned a Scalpel, Anthem and a Rocky 999...I dont think you will be happy..my oneten is the most comfortable bike i ever owned. Scalpel is really uncomfortable, Anthem...after riding a oneten...mmmm no..i would either go with a RM or a Stage..
