Saddles Decisions

Hubbers,

Tn the market for a new saddle and seem to be coming back to 3 that are in budget (R1000):

1) http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/pro-saddle-turnix-ti-af

2) http://www.evobikes.co.za/components/saddles/selle-italia-c2-black.html

3) http://www.evobikes.co.za/components/saddles/selle-italia-c2-genuine-gel-saddle.html

Things i am looking for:

1) Comfort - Do not do really long rides but would like a comfortable one should the rides increase in distance.

2) Pressure release - So groove or cut out to relieve pressure

3) Weight - Light but strong

4) Saddle suitable for the not so flexible.

Understand about sit bones being inportant for width of saddle and reckon i need a slightly wider one rather than the racey, thin, sleek saddles. Also understand it's a personal fit but difficult to test saddles.

Anyone that has any of these saddles that can give me some imput on them or any advice on other saddles that meet the criteria will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you considered the Specialized saddles. I'm not really a fan of their bikes but I have to admit their saddles are top notch.

Have an Avatar on my MTB

And riding a Romin on my road bike

The Romin is a little outside your budget but have a look at their other offerings. I'm sure there is something there to suit your budget (and more importantly - your derrière).

have to agree on the specialized saddles, the different widths are a help. I have an Avatar on MTB and Chicane on road bike. Super comfortable.

I have the C2 gel flow and I find it extremely comfortable. Have tried many other saddles but this one just suits my behind. Only downside IMO is the saddle starts to flex a lot at the cut-out after a while which was about 18 months in my case which isn't too bad. Well worth a shot!

Thanks for the reply. Got me thinking now is it bestto have a cut out or groove for pressure relieve? Does the flex cause you any issues?

The cut-out definitely works for me. Haven't tried anything with a groove before but then again it depends from person to person. The flex doesn't cause any issues you just get this slight sinking feeling over time. Would still recommend it though.

Saddle choice is always difficult but you just need to try try and try until you find the right one

The Selle saddles you are looking at are all 132mm. Sounds like you need a 145mm. I would look at a Fizik Antares. There is a VSX model with a pressure release groove. You can get a test saddle from most shops.
