Building a Cyclo Cross bike

Looks good.

I anticipate you'll need a shorter stem. You've got the right idea by raising it considerably. A MTB tube top is longer than a normal bike that runs drops this to get a comfortable position on the hoods or in the drops you'll run a shorter stem in comparison. Interested to see your opinion after a few rides.

Wow didnt even think of that, Thanks Ryan. Definitely need the shortest stem on the market. just looking at it now its going to be a massive stretch.

Milky I love your build bud. It's resourceful and a proper jack of all trades build. Ryans advice regarding the stem is spot on. You want the straight bar section closer to you

It's the position on the hoods and in the drops you want to adjust. You shouldn't be spending too much time on the flat bar - that's the narrowest area with the least control. Your kcnc stem sounds like it will do the job.

Yip. I'm just not convinced about it's NAHBS pedigree. It's a cool bike. I just don't feel bikes that end up being mass produced should be at NAHBS.

Mercer?

Indeed!!! Still a short while to go but I cannot wait! The excitement keeps me awake at night, and a broken collarbone is keeping me off the bike until the Mercer is born

Congrats! And kudos on supporting some local craftmanship. I have no doubt it will be worth the wait. Heal up. Look forward to the pics.

So on my first off road ride tonight I'm faced with this, to bunny hop or not to bunny hop it???? I wisely opted for the latter. LOL!!

Rode a short Stretch of this gravel road. Was slightly rocky with small lose stones.

I think the tires & rims handled it pretty well. It will take lots of TITS to get use to the bumpy ride.

Only worry was cornering on the lose gravel and sand, where it felt like I was about to wipe out any time.

Ideally I would feel more at ease with a 40mm tire instead of these 35's I'm currently running now.

I'm Not reading too Much into this ride as the bike setup still Needs to be fine tuned with the new & shorter stem still to be fitted.
