Will a 9 speed Dura Ace rear derailer be compatible with a 10 speed cassette and Dura Ace 9 speed shifters...its the current RD-7700, I will be fitting a FSA superlight crankset which is 9 and 10 speed compatible as its on a mavic rear wheel rear hub with the10 speed cassette.

is it this straight forward.

If you want to run 10 speed, you will need 10 speed shifters too. The rear deraileur should work. It is possible you will need a 10 speed chain, but I'm not too sure on that.

You will need to change the shifters and the chain. Not too sure about the derailleur, never tried it myself.

My feeling is that even if you do get certain 9 and 10 speed components to "work" together, the shifting quality will always be sub standard.

Ive tried it before and found that the two important components are the shifters and the chain.

Guys thanks so I have the 10speed cassette, 10speed chain I am going to give it a bash and hope my shifter can work, will keep u guys updated

Did it a few months ago. And this was with 2004 model Dura Ace. Put "modern" 10 speed Ultegra STIs on along with a 10 speed chain and its all gravy.

So you had 10s shifters, cassette, and shifters? Then yes that will work.

9s shifters and 10s cassette don't play well together.

You can use 9s or 10s derailleurs in either

(If course a refer to Shimano road components, MTB is another issue)
