Scott Spark - Bring the Bling

After Berg & Bush I was forced to take a month's rest owing to some severe knee issues. To avoid complete frustration and depression, I thought I'd spruce my bike up. 

Here's a before:

 

Then I stripped her down:

 

A bit of Plascon RemoveALL:

 

And a bit of professional polishing:

 

Suddenly the fork looked a bit dull too...So a facelift was ordered:

 

And then the bling:

 

It's now a 1x10 running a 32 up front and a 11 - 40 at the rear with a 16 replacing 15 and 17. 

 

A special thanks goes to Cycledelic who did the polishing and fork respray, and Linden cycles who helped with my pivot bolts after I managed to misplace a large number of washers...

OMG that looks awesome, I want to do mine now (have a Spark 950) costs?

 

Costs are tricky, but here's a rough break down:

 

1. Plascon RemovALL = R300

2. Polish = Dependent on whether or not you want to go pro or not. I recommend pro. 

3. Cables = R500

4. 1 x 10 conversion = R1700

5. Stem and bars = R1100

6. Grips = R300

7. Occasional bling = R500

Oh...Fork respray = R950

 

And lack of mechanic skills requiring some fixing of my poor workmanship = R1000.

A quick question about those XT cranks.  Did you use the paint stripper on them too, or did you just polish the hell out of them?
