Wanting to race Vets. Process...?

Racing Vets was the best thing I did for my cycling. I took (make that take) huge strain in the races exactly for the reasons mentioned by Dick but that's what makes it fun! Make like Nike and just do it!

Hmmm, maybe I need to get the legs up to speed and into the 2h(thirtysomething) category before taking this step.

Not too fond of getting dropped repeatedly.

Do some races, that will be the best way to gauge it, and you will need the results to qualify in anycase. Even a guy who can ride 100km in 2 hours will not get into Vets without previous race results.

There are some cool smaller races in Jan and Feb, have a look here.

FastOne, BergenDale and Serengeti are cool rides. And all happen before 1 Feb and are in your area.

All Racetec timed races count towards your PPA seeding.

I am also returning to vets VA next year. Worked hard this year en dropped 9kg but want to drop another 6kg.

Give it a go. If you can't keep up drop to seeded again.

I rode vets league in 2013 and am back in western cape in 2015.  Currently 47 & UK racing cyclist, presently PPA B seed, so I should be eligible but I can't find any info on a racing league for 2015??  If I remember correctly it was Aca-Joe sponsored a couple of years ago and someone else last year.  If there isn't a main sponsored league in 2015 will there still be race bunches ahead of the A-Z funride groups and how would one go about signing up for them?

Vets are hard..... try get a day lisence as a vet for a smaller race and see how you do before you commit.

I made some follow up enquiries. There is no 2015 summer league, elites vets or subvets. Looks like PPA have washed their hands of it likely as a result of the spat between them and CSA. I got referred by PPA to WP Cycling who themselves confirmed that PPA had bailed on the plan, and too late for anyone else to organise one. I suspect WP Cycling wouldn't have the resources to organise this anyway and PPA are doing nothing to make the point that whatever CSA think, they are the dominant organising force for anything but elite/domestic pro/track cycling events. But who knows, maybe there just wasn't a sponsor for whom the package was attractive enough.

I'm told there will be some lights by linea events like last year.
