newbie to tech stuff here - can yuo convert any tyres to tubeless ?

if you do get a flat how difficult is is to change ?

is it worth spending the extra money and getting tubless on your first mountain bike ? (either the silverback nebraska - or the merida 500d)

Yep, they say so.  That's one of the Stans / Joes selling points.  If you do a search on 'tubeless' you'll find PLENTY of opinions on this forum...

Me, I've got tubeless ready tyres so can't comment.

Cheers

They say you can use normal tyres...  That's one of the Stans / Joes selling points AFAIR.  If you do a search on 'tubeless' you'll find PLENTY of opinions on the hub...

Me, I've got tubeless ready tyres so can't comment.

In theory, any hole that the slime can't plug would require you to bung a tube into the tyre (you'd need to gater the hole somehow if it is big) and use that to get home .

Maybe wait and see how you do with regards punctures before you spend the cash.  I managed using tubes with oka or sludge in just fine - only went tubeless because I had entered the epic.

Like I have said many times before , you can convert your pram to tubeless if you do it right . My home made tubeless conversion have now done over 1000km no problems . In the next few weeks I will try the tubeless thing on a Pick@Pay bike I got here . If all goes according to plan I will share .
