Garmin Edge 500 HRM problems

Hi,

My HR disappeared on my my last few rides mid ride.

This only seems to happen once I am out on the bike. I've been wearing it on the couch now for as long as this morning's ride and it hasn't lost the connection once.

I wet the conductors before every ride and I sweat enough during my rides, so they should be working.

I've seen hubbers make mention of receiving spikes in their HR readings due to the zipper of their shirts or the wind etc. As my problem relates to "black outs" and not spikes, I don't think it is this either.

My unit is about 8 months old and I have the premium/softstrap HRM.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem or what should I consider?

Thank you in advance.

Try another belt. I'm on my 3rd in 2 years on a edge 810. In fact now using a polar belt which cost less than R300 instead of the garmin belt. It works with the garmin sensor

Which polar belt? When I tried my polar belt, the garmin sensor keeps popping off

I got it from solomons woodmead. It's just says softstrap. I have a polar rcx5 watch for gym and that strap works too. They interchangeable

I bought myself a polar strap in the beginning of the year.Garmin did not want to help with my strap and they only wanted to sell me a new one over 500 Rantes, think it was 700 Rantes.

Haha they weren't gonna fool this dutchman. I Abused google and found a few pages, supporting the polar belt. I bought one at Sportsman's warehouse for 250 Rantes. It is more comfortable and it works like a bomb not one hint of issues. The sad thing was I only had my garmin for 4 months.

As a few have already said the solution to your problem is go and buy yourself a polar strap and problem sorted if you are willing to wait I got mine off EBAY but sportsmans should stock.
