You obviously don't own a road bike, do you?

A few years ago I bought a road bike again after a 15 year stint doing mtb only. Took me a few months of riding that bike 4 - 5 days a week before I could safely say I was no longer a danger to myself and those around me in the bunch. Even skilled mtb'ers look like clumsy ducks out of water on a road bike.

And some of the slickest handlers of a bike I've ever seen are roadies.

By far the biggest stereotypers of others are mountain bikers. It's always the case. Can't fathom why they have this superior attitude about themselves, especially considering the hardest, toughest, most competitive, bad ass cyclists I've met are often the ones who race road bikes.

I ride both, about equal.

My one mtb riding buddy is an absolutely amazingly skilled rider. The kind of guy that rides up, down and over everything and make it look easy. But he has never done any road cycling, or owned a road bike. I like to invite him once a year or so to ride over Chapmans Peak with us, just to see how unsteady he is, how nervous he gets when you ride 30 cm from him and how he complains afterwards of his backside and his hands hurting because of the harsh ride (No 160mm travel suspension). That way I am happy to look like a klutz when riding on the mountain with him the rest of the time. Lately he declines my invitations, I think he has cottoned on to my devious motives. ;)

You obviously don't read..

First of all if you read below my profile name you will see...mtb and road..so yes I own a road bike..secondly it was meant as a joke..hence the hehe..and believe me, I ride both. 90% of mtbikers will always greet you...20% of road cyclists will greet you, so I think the attitude is just the opposite of what you are saying.

O, and what you are saying is going down a hill on a road bike takes more skill than going down a hill with rocks and objects in your path...then really...
