Mobile mechanic in Cape Town

Anyone know of a good bike mechanic in the Cape Town area that comes to you to service your bikes?

Tired of the schlep to the bike shop and their rudimentary testing of a fix that usually means things are still not 100% and a return trip is in order.

Youtube has lots of videos on how to do anything on your bike.

What exactly do you want to do? Do you want to set gears? Do you want to build wheels? Build bikes?

Just have a look on Youtube. If you can't find a video I'd be happy to help if you need. Just drop me a PM.

Also have a look at:

And just read up a bit. The internet is a wonderful tool, my friend.

i am ok with the basics, for example, I can index gears, adjust brakes, etc. but sometimes I cannot get things just right despite watching videos and reading articles. I have limited patience before I become frustrated, I am not mechanically inclined, perhaps a course would help.

There must be a market for a good mobile mechanic, the LBS I use is not so Local.

So while I would like to do more myself, I would still like the backup of a pro to do major jobs or fine tune the bikes when required.

This is quite big in Europe. A good idea. There is a definite gap in the market.

I try to fix it myself... after watching the video  .....

If i still cant fix it i take it to my LBS or a personal mechanic (usually after hours)

A friend in Blouberg is looking for a mobile mechanic that will service bikes at his house. There are about 7-8 bikes that need attention every few months or so – it would be worth the while of a good mechanic coming out for a day and working through the fleet.

I know that some time ago there were guys offering this service, but I cannot seem to find any reference to them anymore.

Thanks.

at 7-8 bikes a local LBS might be interested in collecting and returning again when done?

Doesn't BMC offer a collection service (possibly sub-contracted).?

Realistically it is impossible to cart parts along for 8 different bikes ....

Would make a lot more sense to get it to a bike shop for a service, even if that meant a collect/delivery fee.
