Rhodent Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 So... I'm desperate to get into mountain biking after a few years on the road. Main reason being I now live in Cape Town and can't ignore the mountain! So seeing as it's going to take me a while to save up to buy a bike... om going to throw out a cheeky offer and see what comes of it. As they say, no harm in trying.... If there is anyone with a mountain bike who is planning on riding the argus, but would prefer to do it on a road bike... I am offering my bike to use in the build up to the race, in exchange for the use of your mountain bike for the same duration. My bike is nothing fancy - Raleigh RC6000. But it does have a **** shimano 105 group set as of last year.

That is more of a reference to my years as a student at Rhodes University than my cycling preference I have done a bit of MTB riding in the past... managed to scrape together bucks for a VERY basic Silverback at varsity, and got more than my moneys worth - but it was never going to last long. Iv toyed with this 'exchange' idea a few times... my Road bike is my baby - the product of some severe slogging during my student days - waiting tables, bartending, tutoring, teaching spinning... anything! (It also got me through my first Ironman). So as much as i can say 'sell it and put the bucks toward an MTB', I just cant - this bike will hang on my wall one day! Just getting harder and harder to ignore that damn mountain!

cpelser Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Might have an option for you. Brother in law's 2008 Intense Spider is getting ready to be sold, however he's struggling to source a new BB for the bike as that one squeaks. Will let you know, its also a medium
