Here's a loop for the Cross Country guys on Table Mountain, around Deer Park.

Nicknamed "The Deer".

  • Start at Deer Park parking. The gate is the start.
  • Head up "Messy Climb".
  • Just before the top, take a lefty down "Dick's drop".
  • At the bottom, turn right and head back up towards the big tree along "Baby Head Alley".
  • After the river crossing, take a right down "Tecky Rock Descent".
  • At the bottom, turn left, over the river crossing and then right over the river again at the small dam, towards the parking.
  • Just before the parking, take a left down "Short Rocks and Roots".
  • At the bottom, turn right and climb up the single track back to the parking.

Lots of short, steep climbs and technical single track. This is a great way to get some high intensity training and improve your bike handling skills.

3.9km. 150m climbing.

15 minutes is the time to beat! 4 laps in 1 hour!

Let me know if anyone is keen to give it a go sometime.

awesome well done, thanks for this, I'd be keen sometime after the Meerendal ultra on the 31st Jan. But wouldn't mind a gentle recce to get a feel for for it & familiar with the route as this is not my regular hunting ground.
