Controversial or not??

Not to divert any attention from the subject of this thread and not to justify my poor behavior on a bicycle, and quickly, please, before my imminent death, why do motor manufacturers produce vehicles that can very easily exceed the legal limits on the road, and why is this totally acceptable to all governments around the world that they continue to do so when it is undeniable that speed kills and that the carnage on our roads today cost governments massive amounts of money?

Your answers to this conundrum may give me some insight into my bad behavior.

Car makers focus more on how fast they can stop the car - thus the invention of ABS, etc.  Braking technology is what allowed cars to go faster.

In your case, just because you CAN, does not mean you SHOULD.  Freedom of choice needs to be exercised with responsibility, otherwise the world has fools like you running around.

EDIT: on further reflection, and with reference to the red bit, I think you actually are the victim here.  You did not choose your DNA, which has led you down this reckless and irresponsible path.  Your parents are to blame.

You know what, I speed on a bicycle, not every day because to get above 60 kph is difficult. I have been doing this for as long as I have had a bicycle.  And you know what, I occasionally jump red lights at night in Hillbrow. Am I doing the image of cyclists harm? Certainly not in Hillbrow at night and certainly not breaking the speed limit because the motorist on the road are doing the same speed as me. Can I get killed doing it? Absolutely, I am well aware of the risk. Will I stop doing it? No, because it is within the limits of my perception of risk and fear. Do I pose a serious risk to other road users?  Perhaps a minor risk, but in my opinion not a serious risk to others. Do I do it because this is a lawless country and I know I will get away with it? Absolutely not, this is a worldwide activity. Why do I do it? I do it for the rush, the adrenalin, the camaraderie, and that is what I want to capture on film. Is it controversial, well clearly it is on this forum seeing the storm and backlash it has generated. Can I defend it? No.

So call me what you want, call me a ****, an asshole, an idiot, illogical, brainless, suicidal, a kamikaze rider on tik, tell me how soon I am going to die, whatever you want, it does not worry me as I am old enough not to care about other peoples opinion of me, but the real irony of these posts is that I am quite open about how I ride a bicycle, I am not ashamed of it, but the rest of you are just so pious and sanctimonious about how you ride your bicycle that you cannot even see that you, your wife, your mates whatever, do way more dangerous things on a daily basis.

I do see your point about the hypocrisy, and yes almost everyone breaks traffic laws. But what you have done does lend over to the extremely dangerous side, and always remember that it is not only your life that you endanger, you endanger other road users too.

Exactly, as impressive as 91 on a bike is, if the dude wants to do it during a full road closure race and end up a red splat on a wall somewhere that's his choice, Darwin Award n all, but and this is a super dooper mega über ultra massive Kim Kardashian sized BUT if he does it on a public road others lives become endangered it changes matters a A LOT.

you seriously have me confused, man.  REALLY

Good grief man, but you know how to push the limits .

Sjoe, i agree. Going fast is one thing which i also enjoy but swerving between lanes like that...i dont know hey. My bike usually wants to throw me over the handle bars if i go over 70kph and i try to stop quickly.

Going that fast must be exhilarating but i don't want to fall or hit something at that speed.

I remember reading a (very very reliable, maybe not) statistic about the increase in rear-end crashes after ABS came in... There was an initial drop (cause it was safer)... then it rised (cause people start pushin the limits)

Dude, I'm not sure what you are looking for here??

You post a video of yourself clearly breaking the law then justify it as some sort of social experiment.

The comments you get back don't go your way so you get your back up?

I don't  ever get involved in trolling but you are not an Asshole! You, Sir, are a KNOB!!

If you want society to change, change starts at home! Don't come here and try and guilt change! Not going to happen!

What you have in fact done on your Beyers Naude video is probably turn a good couple of motorists against cyclist,

I do not need to prove my obedience of the rules of the road to you to call you an Asshole.

(Sorry Admin)

"Hard-hitting footage of a fatal collision in Norfolk has been released by police in a bid to get motorcyclists and drivers to think seriously about road safety."

Dieselfde beginsel geld wat fietsryers betref.

Doen soek op David Holmes op Youtube en gaan kyk dan praat ons weer.
