My boy did the 10k as well. His first race by himself. He crashed pretty badly and finished with his shoe soaked from the blood running down his leg and a sprained hand, but really proud of him. Agree about the lighties who seem almost pro in their approach, but good luck to them if they have that level of commitment. Could be a future champ in there. My boy just enjoys the riding and hasn't got the passion to be a champion. He commits his energy to his other sports and just rides MTB for the fun of it.

Hi all... After many years I decided to get back into cycling. Did federation riding years ago.

USN was my first official in 20 years, and I guided a bunch of newbies on the 10km.

Things have changed a lot...

At the start the 30km riders would not open the entrance for 10km riders to start. Result was that the 30km front riders soon caught up with 10km and some riders were very rude, bumped people and kids off the road and swore at ladies and kids. Well done to those guys... you are real professional champions... showing the future riders what class of people they need to mix with.

The kids are new to this, they don't know any better... adult riders should. Race or not... kids safety come first...newbies also paid and in their opinion they are part of a race.

If they are such good and competitive cyclists, why the 30km race and not the big one?

Yes the organizing should have been done better, but get some etiquette.

Completely agree, same situation when they joined the 50km riders (after we have already done about 25km). Witnessed a few small girls being completely bewildered by these boys. There must have been very big prizes for these riders....If you are that fast on the 30km, rather do the 50km.

Seems about 159 riders did not finished the 50 km - 531 finishers.  Personally 2 min better than last year.

Most riders with  flat tyres I ever seen on a race. Some persons without any bombs  or spare tyres. (luckily other riders will help).  Perhaps too heavy to carry - I don't know - buddy 3 punctures. Used 3 bomb on buddy and nine on other riders. Preparation stinks.

But still a very hard and good race perhaps not well organised with the 10 km race.

Lot of swearing and pushing  by the "advanced" men as well as lady riders to the "novices" doing the 10.

Am i right in saying you carried 12 bombs? Al-Qaeda would be proud.

2 mates and I did the 30km.  I have been on/off the bike for 6 years so this was the first proper MTB race in a long time.  Had great fun, fall included.  Sad about some people cheating, but as I mentioned on the cheating thread, I paid for 30km and I'll do 30km.  Now to gooi the next one!!!

Im not sure on all these DNF's. Have a mate who shows as DNF but on Stava his race is there and the distance was 49.6km like everyone else. I haven't spoken to him today so not sure if he had an issue.

Great race, Loved all the berms,

Just one issue. No medals

Medals were there. You just had to go and fetch them from the gazebo at the end. My son was adamant that he wanted one.

Great Race,

Did the 50 km and donated both bombs to other riders. Low and behold, at the 38km mark I got a flat and no bomb. Walked for about 15 min, before one gent offered assistance. He gave his bomb    and i got going again.

To the organisers well done, and to all the other MTB out their in the upcoming events, my apologies for not stopping to assist you, I am racing and if you do not have all the equipment you need, tough.

An enjoyable 50km today, same route as last year. No entry bag so considering USN being title sponsor it was a bit disappointing. Could have at least thrown us a Gel or something. Water points not great either. Route markings were good and different distances were well controlled. RedBard as a venue is well catered. Not sure if anyone saw the cyclists throwing fisty cuffs at the entrance before the start this morning. Throwing there bikes and wanting to klap each other. I don't know what the story was but the lot of them should have been sent home.

Let me guess, one of THEHUB arguments from last week that got REAL?
