Black beauty....Rigid build for all roads

And so after accumulating a lot of spares during a few months, my workshop boxes started to over flow and i had to do something about it.

I decided to build a mountain bike that i could use for the road seeing that we do training rides on the road from time to time and the occasional road race as well.

So, in December i had a bit of time and started my build...1508121_1592919354275954_19901601594444410906406_1592919330942623_28626386394860

This is a axis frame in Aluminium that was sanded down and sprayed matt black. Came out pretty good for a spray can

Sourced a set of Giant wheels here on the hub which got the same treatment as well as a carbon rigid fork

All the black looks very nice but i love my reds as well so i decided to spice things up a bit and this is what the final product looked like. Must say that being on a budget and using what i had this build came out very nice

Sorry for all the barb wire and sketchy surroundings but the pic was taken at work

This bike actually started out as n rigid single speed but ended up with gears. 1x10 setup with 34t chain ring up front and 11-36t at the back. Going to be riding the Argus this year with my soon to be wife the weekend just before we're getting married.

Cant wait :D

That's a fantastic looking bike and considering you built it up from spares etc. I think a few owners of posh brands will be scratching their heads

Thanks guys. I actually weighed it at work the other day and it came in at just under 10kg. Now for a budget build i don't think its to shabby my self.

Give the cranks the same treatment as frame and wheels.

Bike looks good

They were scuffed beyond touch up so i phoned around for some carbon vinyl and copied the sram logo of the internet. The guys at the branding shop actually cut it with their vinyl cutter. So the crank arms are grey with the carbon look stickers under the last coat of clear... also sprayed by can....

I'm busy with something similar.  Had a bunch of parts lying around and building a bike for when I just want to chill.

Nice one

Thanks guys.

When doing the Argus this year i'll swap my giant wheels for my light weight set. But for now the heavy wheels will have to do for training.

I wish that i can throw away the avids and get a set of decent shimano breaks. But thats not happening before the wedding. Guess i'll have to make due for now :whistling:
