Got this one up and running on Tuesday , one beeeeg weekend ahead of these skinny steel pipes .

I'm impressed at 7.5kg it's really not bad at all .

That's lighter than most carbon frames.

My aim is sub 8kg.

Sub 8kg is definitely possible - my theoretical build is currently sitting at 7.86Kg - without knowing the weight of some smaller components and with 0% carbon in the build.

One day (soon) I can also make my dream a reality like yours and a few others out there.

No carbon either on this.....ok maybe a little on the shifters.

What parts you going to build with?

Was a toss up between Ultegra 10-speed and use my existing wheels, or go for 105 11-speed and get a new set of wheels. Existing wheels have red hubs and nipples and prefer as much black/white as possible.

Settled for 105 11-speed, as it was only R5k allowing me to find a semi-decent set of wheels. I also couldn't find the right combination of black gruppo, 53/39, 172.5mm crankset - mostly silver/grey and compact the only options.

Ritchey WCS (matt black) components for the rest - seat post, saddle, stem, bars, bar tape, bottle cages. Some of these are leaving Europe now - got the notification today.

Already have second set of Shimano pedals, just waiting to be used, as well as white cable liners that I was going to use for my existing bike.

Now to patiently wait for next month so I can get my frame set.

Patience is something i don't have much of and the wait is killing me.

Also going Ultegra as i want a bike that is easy to service and run.Looked at DA but got Ultegra 6800 group with a 52-36 crank and Zipp 60 wheels for the same price as the DA 9000.Then theres the replacement parts cost for DA    :whistling:  :w00t:

I have DA 7800 on my current bike - came with the bike.

But always use Ultegra cassette and chain when replacing.

Agree that DA is too expensive.

Edit: forgot about the carbon fork... so there will be some of that black stuff on the bike.

Comes in at 7.82kg with the Hope/Mavic wheels

Not a bike for the weightweenies out there. :whistling:

Very very pretty Gummi. Great work on the aesthetics of the build as a whole.

Thanks

I wanted to build a bike that i could spend time on travelling around and be comfortable. Also wanted it to look good.
