Agree Johny. PM you.

Spez is going to open up a 500m2 concept store in D/ville area. Location

unknown at this point. Seem it will be a corporate store run by a Spez corporate manager.

Deon is a smart operator. He will survive and I will still support him. He is planning a rebrand of the store with new bike brands. To date, he has not confirmed which brands yet.

Spez owners, the only thing he cannot service are the Brain shocks. Everything else he would still be able to do, roadbikes included. Afterall his macks are trained on Spez.

That really sucks dude. The Giant store in Durbanville is a absolute joke, so SPez chose to go the same route. Feel sorry for Deon, cant sell Spez or Giant, eish, not much left hey. The rest are sold at CWC.

Hmmm...lots of info missing here. Deon built the Spez brand in Durbanville and did a great job with his service/attitude...but the Spez brand also helped Deon build a lucrative business. Plenty of assumptions and conjecture. Would love to hear from the parties involved and not just jump to conclusions.

From the new logo/profile picture it is safe to assume they are now a Trek shop

So I heard Deon was offered the Spez Concept Store...but with conditions making it all but impossible to do. If that's the case...then I'll certainly NOT support the new Spez Concept store planned in the area.

Look, I like my (Spez) bike and won't necessarily switch brands...but I'll continue to support Deon and his team with servicing and buying apparel/parts etc. And if I buy a new Spez model I'll go look for a normal LBS stockist.

Does anyone know why Olympic cycles are no longer selling Spez? Is it because of the concept store in Town? I say lets boikot all these concept stores.

Because Olympic has operated in a certain way for many decades and refuses to be dictated to by a single supplier.

the market should open its eyes, Olympic did.

Saw a massive Spez van, with a massive trailer, leaving there this morning, must've had all the ex stock

This morning at 8H10 I saw that van & trailer turning into the dirt road toward Radio City where all the smallholdings are.

Strange......

It’s not a big deal. I get me rims straighten at Giba as Dee does a great job on it. He straighten most rims that most shops don’t have time to.

Bike gets serviced at Spez shop. Tyres I buy from anywhere that is cheap, same with equipment. If a shop does not have what I am looking for I move on. No alliance, been down that road before and found that most of the time you lose due to price and stock they keep.

My 2 cents worth

Think he is going to get Silverback at least. Don't know about other brands though. Not sure why they pulled out, but rumour has it a concept store will go where the Cycle Lab was near MacD
