If you don't mind the weight (and you shouldn't), then these tyres are Unreal. Stronger than the crossmarks (from my commuting experience) and grip like crazy (run them nice and low, you won't regret it).

I rode my last Epic with Ardent front and back. 500gm heavier, lose 500gm more bodyfat if its gonna bother you. But let me tell you Epic riders, I'm gonna sit at that one bit of track and count the amount of flats. Especially the pro's with that lightweight tyres.

Hi Jason

A good tire to look at is the Vittoria Peyote and Barzo they are durable with super strong side walls, also cheaper than the Schwalbe

Not doing epic but did 2 x attakwas & tankwa trek with Racing Ralphs Snakeskins front & back with no problems at all. use it lose it

I did the last 2 Epics on RR Snakeskin front and back. Will do so again this year. No issues.

Ardent front and back! The rocks here in Worcester is not forgiving..... Especially for one bit of the Worcester - Wellington day

Yup, been running this for some time now. No complaints on any level.

Hi All, I am also doing the epic to finish... Currently have a Continental Mountain King 2.4 as my front tyre and a Snakeskin RR 2.2 as the rear Tyre. Please advise me if this combination is too optimistic in terms of the width difference..

Nah, i think you'll be fine. There will be a couple gnarly sections so you should enjoy it.

500g on your boep and 500g on a tyre are VERY different things

Just to illustrate. Picked up a nail this afternoon. Went straight through and through the side wall. I plugged both holes and its still hard as a rock. Ardents thick sidewall made this possible, other thinner tyres would just tear futher. So, decide for yourself if this is a strong tyre or not.....

Agree, but if you gonna do the Epic, you and your bike are one!!! So whether your bike weights 500gm less or you 500gm less, you are one!!! Your bike cant finish the Epic without you and visa versa.........

O, Ardent still hard after three days of no riding......... No Viagra involved......
