Nibali Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I concur. It's an incredible challenge. On day 2 I had no idea how I was going to get through. Must admit I thought first of pulling the plug and then thought of asking the missus to drive shotgun on day 3. But come morning of day 3 I had recovered, found my climbing rymth and had the best day yet. It really does move your tolerance levels a lot higher. On the climb out of Sabie I was praying that my parents drive past me so I can get in the car (they were cool enough to follow me during the whole tour, coolest ever). As luck would have it, they were standing at the top waiting for me, just one look at them had me going again. Tremendously blessed to have such awesome support. I felt the same on Day 3, suddenly I had legs, got in a good group who grew as we picked up stragglers, had an absolute blast! I think I rode myself back into fitness for the last day, haha. But an incredible challenge, one which I will gladly suffer through again. I giggled at my complaints of how I suffered at the 94.7 last year. I think that's the key. They would do well if they give people some options. The discount booklet doesn't mean much and like you say the same stuff next year won't work for the same entrants. I would be happy if the Jock Tour kit was thrown into the mix. Like stuff one can use again. But they should also have the basic option where they don't get flack for "forcing" stuff onto people. Yup, adding the kit instead of everything else is a great idea. The kit was quite awesome, I got myself the jersey, its a proper piece of cycling kit Hopefully they are reading this thread for that basic option It's ASG, they are already rethinking the entry fee ~ in the form of an increase Keep dreaming, it's not going to happen. Haha, Falco, I like dreams, in my dreams I beat Nibali in climbs, so yeah, I will keep dreaming But I hear you.

If your parents were in the grey'ish SUV'ISH type car they were great. On that last climb (Day 3) I was just about to give up when the man from that car was standing 50m from the top saying ..."Only around that corner guys then it flattens out... keep going" I was so relieved to hear that. Tell him thanks.

Tell him thanks. That be my dad yeah, I'll tell him I actually heard him say that, so it means you were just ahead of me. I would ask which bike/kit, but I was bleeding through my eyeballs, so can't remember much.
