THE RACE DOES, HOWEVER, MAKE PROVISION FOR ALL LICENSED VETERAN BUNCHES AS WELL AS A LICENSED ELITE BUNCH. Although only 30km in length, the course rises by 1200 metres between Nelspruit and Kaapmuiden. The second stage is the existing 154km Jock Classique route, which Jock Tour riders will have to complete in one go, without the luxury of the breakfast and lunch stops which the Classique riders have at White River and Sabie respectively. This stage takes riders from Nelspruit out on the N4 towards Kaapmuiden before turning left towards the airport and onto White River. From White River riders take on the road to Sabie and then back onto Nelspruit. This stage offers 2900 metres of climbing. The notable climbs on this stage are Spitskop and the Long Tom Pass.Stage 3 takes place over 150km on the traditional Jock Classique route, starting in Nelspruit, going out on the N4 towards Komatipoort before turning right into the Boulders reserve for the back-breaking Boulders ascent and onto Kaapmuiden. From Kaapmuiden the Tour takes on the undulating road to Barberton and then onto Nelspruit, with Hilltop constituting the final climb of the Tour before riders drop down into Nelspruit to finish back at the Mbombela Stadium. The total rise on the final stage is 3100 metres. The good news is that the new stage 1 route is stunningly beautiful and the road surface faultless – the “lesser” good news is that the stage is slightly longer at 44km and will be distinctly tougher than last year’s 42km first stage stretch! The Brondal road, which formed part of stage 1 in 2014, isn’t in a good state and early indications are that the road won’t be fixed properly in the near future. The organisers have sat with local traffic authorities and have devised a challenging alternative which we’ll follow in 2015.The 2015 format for the Saturday 1-day Jock remains unchanged with the exception of the first stage which receives a revamp.LICENSED LADIES AND JUNIOR BUNCHES ARE MADE PROVISION FOR IN THIS EVENT AS WELL AS ALL LICENSED VETERANS BUNCHES, BUT NOT A LICENSED ELITE BUNCH The 2015 stages are as follows:Stage 1: Nelspruit – White River: 44kmStage 2: White River – Sabie (via Spitskop): 45kmStage 3: Sabie – Nelspruit (via Long Tom Pass): 63kmTOTAL ASCENT: 2900 METRES The stages are as follows: Stage 1: Nelspruit – White River: 43kmStage 2: White River – Sabie (via Spitskop): 45kmStage 3: Sabie – Nelspruit (via Long Tom Pass): 63km Stage 1:The first stage, which starts at 6:30, goes out from the Mbombela Stadium and follows the road towards Sabie before hopping onto the N4 bypass around Nelspruit. From there it will run on the N4 before turning left on the road to the Kruger Airport at Karino. There is much climbing to be done on this section and it’s predominantly uphill all the way to the finish in White River. The stage will finish approximately 400 metres from the stage 1-stop at High School Rob Ferreira. Riders will maintain a neutral run-in to Rob Ferreira from the finish. Stage 2:At 09:30 riders will start tackling the second stage (in the same order as the first). The race moves out of White River onto the Sabie road over Spitskop and will end at the entrance towards Sabie. It’s a 45km ride after which the field will settle down to lunch at the Sabie Primary School before gearing up for the final leg. Stage 3:The third stage starts at 13:00 from the School and riders almost immediately hit the first (and only) big obstacle - The Long Tom Pass. The pass is a monster, totaling 12km with an average gradient of 7 percent. The good news is that – after Long Tom - the riding becomes easier as the stage progresses all the way back to Nelspruit to finish back at the Mbombela Stadium. Cut-off and Prize Giving:The cut-off in Nelspruit is at 17:30 and prize giving will take place at 16:00. Entry fees:3-stage: R720There are no 1 or 2 stage options this year for the Jock Classique.R10 of every entry is donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa. ASG Posted March 11, 2015 Share So the 3 day event is only for licensed vets is it? And elites?Definitely also open for all 'Open' riders - like with the Tour de Boland last week. There will be a dedicated 'Open' category for non-licensed riders in the 3-day event. We'll send out another communication to clarify - thanks for the 'heads up'

sometime Posted May 19, 2015 Share I was very keen to do this until I had a look at the price. Close on R4k just for a 3 day race entry with no food, or accommodation is pretty rich?
