Question for the law

It won't refer to a "bicycle" because then it would exclude a unicycle, tricycle, sitting-tricycle* multi-cycle...anyway here is the direct quote, now close thread and obey the traffic laws please.

"driver"

means any person who drives or attempts to drive any vehicle or who rides or attempts to ride any pedal cycle or who leads any draught, pack or saddle animal or herd or flock of animals, and "drive" or any like word has a corresponding meaning

s58:

1) Subject to subsection (3), no person shall, unless otherwise directed by a traffic officer, fail to comply with any direction conveyed by a road traffic sign displayed in the prescribed manner.

2) In any prosecution for a contravention of or a failure to comply with a provision of subsection (1), it shall be presumed, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, that the road traffic sign concerned was displayed by the proper authority under the power conferred by this Act and in accordance with its provisions.

Seems pretty clear to me. Yes, practically won't be able to fine you if you say you do not have your ID with you etc. But neither do the authorities do anything about people smoking in public...

So you use "pedal cycle" so you can include unicycle, tricycle, etc.  But does that include "hand cycle"?

And does tricycle include triathlon cycle?

No, I don't use that term... legislators used that term

And yes, includes handcycle (that's the sitting tricycle I referred to); and no, it doesn't include triathlon cycle as those do not stop for jack-sh**

Hi all. I am having a chat with friends of mine, and the one guy is saying that you (on a bicycling) can not be fined for not stopping at a red light or stop street. The reason is that a bicycle is not licenced.

Being a regular hubber, i know its wrong and unsafe but thats not a point to stand on in an argument.

My question is, where is it written in the law that a bicycle needs to stop? Or where can i find it?

Thanks.

A cyclist can even be locked up for being on the road with to much alcohol in his system.

There's a hubber that knows all about it :whistling:  :whistling:
