Hi i have just decided to try out a 1X10 setup. I have 42t extender ring at the back and have a new shimano XT M786 deraileur.

I am having a problem in that the extender ring is very close to the deraileur and i am worried that its too close. Any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem could be and what a possible solution is would be much appreciated

Put the chain on and set the hi and low limit screw. Then use the B screw to set the distance away from the largest cog.

If you have fitted and extender 42t you may need to change the B screw for a longer one which you can get at any hardware store

Agreed, check the oneupcomponents.com website. When you buy the 42T ring from them you get a longer B screw with it.

It doesn't look like the derailleur is under tension?

Once it is under tension it should pull down.

Can you take a picture from the side.

Kitted also stocks B-screws
